“Pelikulambo,” a multimedia installation, comprises a video of silhouettes of busy people in transit projected at the inside walls of kulambo (mosquito net), with fog inside, creating an immersive atmosphere for viewers. In some cultures, kulambo denotes protection which becomes the threshold between the conscious and unconscious states of being. Pelikula (film) is composed of multiple frames. Much like everyday life, different scenes come together to make a larger narrative of our existence. In some ways, that fog can obscure our vision, making it difficult to see what lies ahead; a metaphorical fog describes a situation where things are uncertain.
The artwork offers viewers a variety of experiences and invites them to reflect on their perception of time. The transient nature of lived and objective time is a meditation of our relationship to the complexities of time.
